Claude Dubois and Donald Stokes, chairman of the Leyland group, looking quite
pleased at the Le Mans Spitfire.
Claude told me a nice story which happend after the race: After a first
celebration at the track they drove the cars back to the hotel and on the way they came across a nice meadow with a stream, so the parked the cars on the meadow and cooled down in the stream still wearing they
racing suits.
Another nice story is an occurrence during the race. A friend of Claude was
taking part in a Ferrari and when he overtook the Spitfire on the long straight he came on purpose very close next to Claude’s Spitfire which caused some nasty turbulence so he had some difficulties to keep his line
for the next hundret meters.
